Are Webinars Free? What’s The Average Cost? (Explained)

There are certainly going to be quite a few variables when it comes to this specific question. So in order to correctly answer it for you, let’s take a look at all of the possibilities.

Are Webinars Free?

are webinars free

Webinars, for the most part, are going to be free to attend. However, there are certainly main times when webinars aren’t free.

The answer is also going to depend on if you plan on using a webinar as a presenter or a viewer. Let’s dive a little deeper into the answer now.

When Webinars Are Free

So as an attendee, you usually have nothing to worry about. If you see a webinar that you like, you will just have to enter in your details (name and email) in order to view the webinar.

Keep in mind that there are both live webinars and automated webinars, and the process is usually the same. Sometimes you will have to enter in a few more details, but you most likely won’t need to enter in any payment details.

So yes, most webinars are going to be free to join and watch as an attendee.

When it comes to being a webinar user, there are times when webinar software comes with free trials for you to test out. This is certainly very beneficial because you don’t have to pay any more in order to test out the software.

A good example of webinar software that comes with a 100% free trial would be Demio, which you can click here to see for yourself.

However, there are going to be plenty of times when webinars aren’t considered as being free. Let’s talk about those next.

Why Webinars Aren’t Free

There are actually quite a few reasons as to why a webinar wouldn’t be free, either as an attendee or a host.

Please keep in mind that some of these situations are much rarer, but they do occur.

First and foremost, some webinars you have to pay just to be able to attend. This usually happens when the webinar has some type of special information on it.

In other words, the webinar host will use the presentation to create a product and give 100% valuable information to those who had to pay to attend it.

The price for these types of webinars will certainly differ, as it’s completely up to the webinar host and the value that they give during the presentation.

There have also been times where someone can signup for a webinar where the payment occurs in 7 days after the webinar. Once the webinar is over, the attendee can decide if the presentation was worth the price of admission.

Once again, keep in mind that this is an advanced marketing tactic and it’s not something that you will see every day.

Another way that you can pay, in relation to using webinars, is at the end of the presentation. While it will still be free to attend a specific webinar presentation, many times there are pitches at the end of the webinars.

While offers, as I explained above, are always optional, it is a way that you might want to spend money when joining a webinar, even if it was free to join in the first place.

Lastly, I want to change the perspective and talk about webinars not being free when it comes to using software as a webinar host. Most webinar software tools are certainly not free to use, especially after any type of free trial.

Here are a few examples for you:

Those are just a couple of examples, but software is something that comes with a lot of maintenance and work. So if you plan on using webinars as a marketer, expect that you’ll have to pay money for it.

You can also learn more about those software tools down below as well:

So here’s another great question that I want to answer that is similar to what we’ve been talking about.

Should Webinars Be Free?

It should certainly be free to join webinars as an attendee. However, I do not believe that webinar software should be free to use.

First and foremost, most webinars are going to be free for attendees to join. While marketers can charge for others to join a webinar, you’re obviously going to lose a lot of registrants in the process.

On the other hand, I do believe that software tools should most certainly not be free. Considering just how much time, effort, and money that goes into creating and maintaining software, it’s just necessary in order to make things work.

However, I do like the idea that a lot of software tools are utilizing free trials. Given the fact that I’ve tested and used a lot of software tools myself, it’s great to be able to test something before you actually invest money into using it.

What Is The Average Cost Of A Webinar?

After using and assessing the prices of many software tools, I would say a good ballpark amount is around $50-$100 per month.

Keep in mind that is a ballpark figure though, meaning that sometimes you can pay less, and sometimes you can pay a whole lot more.

There will also be times when you can get hold of a lifetime deal and save a bunch of money in the process. WebinarKit is a great example of that, but they could be ending their lifetime deal anytime soon. I’ll add two helpful articles about them down below.

Let’s wrap things up now.

So Are Webinars Free? Closing Words

are webinars free

So yes, webinars are mostly going to be free when it comes to joining them. Using webinar software, on the other hand, isn’t going to be free.

I hope the above statement is a good enough way to wrap things up and give you the overall picture when it comes to webinars being free or not.

While you will have those rare occurrences where a webinar host makes you pay to attend, the rest (and most) of webinars are going to be completely free to join.

Lastly, if you plan on running webinars for marketing and sales purposes, don’t be afraid to invest your money in great software. Given the fact that you can sell high-ticket offers on webinars, it becomes a little easier to recoup your investment.
