Why Affiliate Marketing Is The Best Business Model (Explained)

People act like the affiliate marketing business model is the coolest thing since sliced bread.

Are they right, or is this the type of business model that you want to avoid like the plague? Let’s talk more about it as I have a great perspective for you.

Why Is Affiliate Marketing The Best Business Model?

why is affiliate marketing the best business model

Affiliate marketing is the best business model because you can do it from home, you don’t need a lot of money up front, and anyone can do.

Granted, that is only scratching the surface when it comes to the overall business model of affiliate marketing.

On the other hand, affiliate marketing isn’t always going to be sunshine and rainbows.

While there are plenty of pros, there are also going to be plenty of cons and challenges as well. Don’t worry though, as that’s going to be the same when it comes to any type of business model.

There is also the fact that affiliate marketing can be very profitable.

Let’s talk more about that as well as some of the best benefits (in my opinion) when it comes to affiliate marketing.

1) Affiliate Marketing Can Be Very Profitable

This is probably the biggest benefit and perk when it comes to affiliate marketing, and it’s just how profitable of a business model that it can be.

But what makes affiliate marketing so special? Why is it capable of being so profitable, even for someone who wants to do it on the side?

There are quite a few reasons why affiliate marketing can be very profitable. Here are a few:

  • No shipping.
  • No inventory costs.
  • No tangible products.
  • All of the products are digital.

And forget the fact about there being no overhead costs. You don’t exactly need to go out and rent a studio in order to make things work.

You can just be in the comfort of your own home, working from your laptop, and focused like a machine.

What can also make affiliate marketing so profitable is the fact that you can make commissions by using free traffic.

If you choose to go that route, everything becomes pure profit.

In that scenario, I would certainly recommend investing back in your affiliate business, as that will allow you to quickly grow (which is what you want).

Please note that I mentioned how affiliate marketing can be very profitable.

Unfortunately, most people don’t make any money. In other words, the average income for affiliates usually ends up being nothing, given the fact that they don’t take any action.

However, if you’re one of the few who plans on taking the right focused actions for a long period of time, then you’re going to be putting yourself in a great spot to succeed.

2) You Don’t Need A Lot Of Money Upfront With Affiliate Marketing

There aren’t many business models where you don’t need a lot of money upfront, and affiliate marketing is one of those business models.

This is the reason why you might start seeing affiliates come out of the woodwork. It’s both a good and a bad thing.

  • More people are starting to see the power of affiliate marketing.
  • You get also a lot of beginners claiming to be experts (and that’s not a good thing).

If there’s one piece of advice I can give you when it comes to affiliate marketing, is to not lead above your level.

For example, if you haven’t made more than $100 in a day, don’t start teaching people about how you can make $1,000 per day.

  • Speak about your experience.
  • Let people know that you still might have a job.
  • How you’re ambitious about replacing your job with affiliate marketing.

It’s so much easier to relate to others, as opposed to going the ‘fake it until you make it’ route like many choose to go.

Anywho, the influx of affiliates is due to this massive benefit of affiliate marketing, and it’s the fact that you don’t need a lot of money upfront when it comes to affiliate marketing.

Here’s another great benefit that many people don’t seem to talk about all too much.

3) You Get To Pick Your Niche And Products That You Promote

Affiliate marketing comes with so much freedom, especially for the fact that you can pick the niches and products that you end up spending your time in.

A lot of people see picking a niche as a headache, and I can certainly see where they are coming from.

However, the world is your oyster when it comes to affiliate marketing because you can be as flexible as you like.

  • You can, actually, get paid for your passion.
  • There are hundreds of thousands of products to promote.
  • You don’t have to get stuck with one niche or traffic source.

All in all, affiliate marketing comes with quite a lot of flexibility.

Unlike other business models, say, for example, eCommerce, sometimes you are locked into making one platform work.

I say this because I hear about a lot of eBay vendors complaining about how the fees are racking up, and their businesses are struggling because of that.

While affiliate marketing can come with similar challenges, it’s much easier to pivot:

  • Niche is too competitive? Pivot in multiple ways.
  • Don’t like a specific traffic source? Use a different one.
  • An affiliate offer isn’t converting well? Test out a new one.

Given the fact that you don’t have to worry about overhead costs, you have massive amounts of control over a lot of aspects of your affiliate marketing business.

This should be music to your ears, as that’s not something that many other business models offer.

So here is one more big benefit that comes along with the affiliate marketing business model, and you’re going to love it.

4) You Don’t Need To Worry About Customer Support

While you are recommending/selling other people’s products, you don’t have to worry about the tedious task of customer support.

Now, I do want to mention that sometimes you will need to speak with customers for quite a few reasons:

  • You’re a cool person, and they just want to talk.
  • They want to get their affiliate bonuses from you.
  • They have some questions when it comes to the offer that you’re promoting.

I think you get the idea here. The fact of the matter is that there is usually going to be some type of communication when it comes to your audience.

The important thing here is that you do NOT need to worry about:

  • Processing refunds.
  • Dealing with crabby customers.
  • Getting headaches over chargebacks.
  • Making changes and updating the product.

While it might not sound like a lot, it can certainly free up a lot of your time when you have the product’s team dealing with customer support.

Plus, that also means that you don’t need to hire a team in order to do customer support.

As I said previously, you don’t exactly need a lot of money to get started and the profit potential can be very. very high.

If you’re looking to quickly get started with an online business model, affiliate marketing has got you covered.

There are only a few things that you will need when first getting started too, such as:

Most people are capable of checking off those boxes, which means that you can quickly get started.

Yes, it’s going to take some time to figure out, and yes there is most certainly a learning curve when it comes to affiliate marketing.
