7 Benefits Of Affiliate Marketing: Why It’s Worth Getting Into

It’s hard to deny the power of affiliate marketing, especially when it comes with oh so many fantastic benefits.

Be sure to keep reading on as I use my many years of experience to talk about the biggest benefits of affiliate marketing.

What Are The Benefits Of Doing Affiliate Marketing?

what are the benefits of doing affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing can seem like it’s nothing but benefits, especially for the fact that anyone can do it, it’s cost-effective, and there’s a potential to make a lot of money.

In fact, that is only scratching the surface when it comes to affiliate marketing.

There’s no wonder as I see affiliate marketing to be one of the best business models around, and I have plenty more reasons to back that up.

Let’s talk more about why so many people absolutely fall in love with affiliate marketing (myself included).

1) Anyone Can Start Being An Affiliate

While this isn’t the biggest benefit of affiliate marketing, it’s certainly a pro that many people like. It’s the fact that anyone can start being an affiliate.

Now there is going to be a learning curve when it comes to affiliate marketing, and the same goes with any type of marketing strategy.

However, the learning curve isn’t all that bad as it’s not exactly rocket science.

After all, the fundamentals of affiliate marketing revolve around promoting affiliate offers using traffic sources. From there, you can also focus on increasing your conversions.

To further help speed up the learning process, there are tons of resources online to such as:

  • Blogs (like mine).
  • YouTube videos and tutorials.
  • Affiliate marketing Facebook groups.
  • Dedicated affiliate marketing communities.
  • Fantastic step-by-step courses that walk you through the process.

So yes, you are going to have to learn some new information when it comes to getting started in affiliate marketing. The fact of the matter though, is that anyone can get started whenever they want.

This is also why you might have seen an abundance of new affiliates entering the market seeing the barrier of entry is extremely low.

If you haven’t joined in on the fun yet, then you need to.

Here’s another great affiliate marketing benefit that you’ll probably like even more.

2) Affiliate Marketing Is Cost-Effective

So there is another big reason as to why so many people can become affiliate marketers, and it’s simply for the fact that it is very cost-effective.

This is a topic that I find myself constantly talking about when it comes to affiliate marketing strategies. In fact, there are plenty of ways to make commissions with just about no money.

A few of these strategies include:

  • Sending cold emails.
  • TikTok videos (a great way of getting traffic).
  • Using Facebook (your profile, groups, and direct messaging people).
  • Making YouTube videos (there is plenty of free software to help with this).

The fact of the matter is that once you have your affiliate link, you only need to focus on getting that link in front of the people who both need and want it the most.

In the beginning, that usually comes along with having meaningful conversations with people, talking about what they are having trouble with, and recommending a solution.

And no, that doesn’t mean spamming the link anywhere and everywhere (that’s what fools do).

As you start to make commissions with affiliate marketing, that’s when you can start reinvesting in your success.

Here are a few examples of helpful resources and assets that you can invest in, and their costs:

  • Further education (prices fluctuate).
  • An autoresponder (from $0 to $10 per month).
  • Landing pages and sales funnels (prices fluctuate).
  • A domain and hosting (around $50 a year or even less).

The fact of the matter is that you aren’t exactly going to be breaking the bank when it comes to making commissions with affiliate marketing.

While there are plenty of ways to invest a ton of money into affiliate marketing, that is usually done once you have a grasp of how well your offers convert, and how much money you’ll make in return.

3) Affiliate Marketing Can Be A Side Hustle

So you know that anyone can start with affiliate marketing, and do it for a very low amount of money. To further stack those benefits, you can enjoy affiliate marketing as a side hustle.

In other words, you can work a full-time job and then do affiliate marketing on the side.

This is also music to a lot of aspiring affiliate marketers because they have jobs and are looking for an extra way to make an income.

While this is a great benefit, you do have to keep in mind that there are going to be some sacrifices that you might have to make.

After all, if you really want to go far with affiliate marketing and you already have a job, you’re going to need to spend a lot of your free time on affiliate marketing.

This means that a lot of things are going to have to be sacrificed:

  • Some free time.
  • Watching Netflix and movies.
  • Browsing social media and the rest of the internet.
  • Video games (if that’s your thing, it used to be mine).

And don’t forget about various other hobbies that might be taking away from working on your affiliate marketing.

These are the types of sacrifices that come along with having a side hustle. As Sam Ovens often says:

If you are not willing to sacrifice for your goal, then your goal will become the sacrifice.

So yes, there are going to be both pros and cons when it comes to affiliate marketing. However, it’s not exactly asking for a lot when it comes to (possibly) seeing life-changing results.

4) You Can Do Affiliate Marketing From Home

As if affiliate marketing wasn’t great enough, you also get the ability to make commissions from the comfort of your home.

This might be pretty obvious, especially for the fact that all you need is a laptop and an internet connection.

However, to go hand-in-hand with that benefit, you also won’t need:

  • Inventory.
  • A huge overhead.
  • Daily driving/commuting.
  • An alarm clock (it’s optional).

I’m sure it’s getting much easier for you to see why I believe affiliate marketing to be the ultimate business model.

Affiliate marketing is also great because you won’t have to deal with any physical products and you also won’t have to worry about shipping anything.

In other words, you can be a vampire, like me, and only come out of the house when the sun is gone 😛

5) Affiliate Marketing Can Be Very Profitable

I can’t help but think of the line from the movie Jerry Maguire:

Show me the money!

Anywho, you can’t forget about the fact that affiliate marketing can be very profitable. I know this, and I say this because I have been doing it full-time for a good amount of time now (many, many years).

I also can’t help but say that this is also why so many people get into affiliate marketing in the first place, and I don’t blame them.

The ceiling of affiliate marketing is pretty much sky-high, meaning that there is a huge opportunity to make a lot of money and be very profitable with affiliate marketing.

As always though, my disclaimer when it comes to affiliate marketing is that the average income is around zero dollars.

I say this because most people who want to get started with affiliate marketing either:

  • Take no action.
  • Take very little action.

Neither of those activities is going to do the trick when it comes to seeing great and long-term success.

Unfortunately, a lot of aspiring affiliates have this instant gratification mindset and if they don’t see results quick enough, then they eventually throw in the towel.

I talk about this a ton more when it comes to why most affiliates end up failing.

I’d recommend clicking on that link so you can read the article later (it will open up in a new tab for you).

6) You Don’t Have To Worry About Doing Customer Support

I’m sure that you didn’t show interest in affiliate marketing because you wanted to be a master at customer support. It usually doesn’t work that way.

That’s why it’s nothing but good news here, given the fact that you don’t have to worry about handling customer support.

Affiliate marketing is simply the process of recommending other people’s products, offers, and services. So by doing that, other companies will have a team that handles customer support for you.

This means that you won’t have to deal with:

  • Refund requests.
  • Damaging chargeback claims.
  • Angry, annoyed, and rude customers (they are out there).

However, I do want to let you know that you will have to have some conversations with others, which isn’t that big of a deal in the first place.

If you’re a talkative person, then you’ll most likely enjoy the process in the first place.

Here are a few things that you will have to do (that’s kind of similar to customer support):

  • Sending over bonuses after they purchase from you.
  • Answering common questions about the offer you are promoting.

You know, simple stuff like that. Nothing that you can’t handle.

Let’s move on to the last big benefit, which is actually a combination of many of the benefits that I’ve talked about.

7) Affiliate Marketing Is A Lower Risk Business Model

So just about anyone can get started with affiliate marketing, and they can do it for very low costs, and even do it from the comfort of their own home.

Yup, I guess that it’s also safe to say that affiliate marketing can also be a very low-risk business model.

You’re pretty much removing a lot of the barriers that offline businesses often have to tangle with, and you’re combining that with the fact that you can get free traffic from the internet.

I don’t think I need to beat a dead horse here when it comes to more benefits and the fact that it’s a much lower-risk business model.

However, I do want to say that you shouldn’t get comfortable with always investing little to no money in your affiliate marketing business.

That is a very big affiliate marketing mistake, mostly made by beginners.

The fact of the matter is that you are eventually going to need to invest in your affiliate marketing business in order to grow.

Don’t forget about how big of an advantage it is to be able to use your investing as a business expense, but I’m not going to get into those aspects since I am not a CPA.

All in all, affiliate marketing still remains one of the best business models that I have ever come across.

It’s not all going to be sunshine and Skittles though, so let’s talk about a few of the negative aspects. Don’t worry, there aren’t a ton of them.

What Is Bad About Affiliate Marketing?

As with any industry, affiliate marketing is going to come with quite a few bad apples, as well as minor annoyances and a level of uncertainty.

So whether you want to talk about:

  • Digital marketing.
  • Affiliate marketing.
  • Internet marketing.

They share many similarities, and all of them are going to have their bad apples as well. In other words, there are always going to be people who do sh*tty things.

I’m not going to go over the things in this article that I’ve seen in my many years of online marketing, but most of these individuals are usually easy to avoid.

Aside from that, affiliate marketing can most certainly come with its challenges, problems, and various levels of uncertainty.

In the beginning, you sometimes have to deal with the fact that things just might not work out as planned. You also have to fight the urge to give up, as that’s very common for aspiring affiliates.

You also have to deal with the uncertainty of the internet, the market, the platforms, the methods. The internet is quickly changing, and those who can’t change with it often end up vanishing like ghosts.

Once again though, this is something that every type of online marketer has to deal with. I’m telling you this so that you know what to expect, as opposed to it “coming from nowhere” sometime in the future.

Despite the few cons, affiliate marketing still remains the ultimate (and best) business model that I have ever come across. I’m sure that there are plenty of others who would agree with me.

Affiliate Marketing Benefits: Closing Words

Some of the best affiliate marketing benefits include being low-cost, having high profit potential, no customer support, and you can even do it from home.

So I hope that this article gave you a good idea of what you can expect from affiliate marketing.

There’s a reason why I have stuck with affiliate marketing for so long and will continue to do so in the future.
